Fun Run / Walk

Join fellow KubeCon attendees and Visit Seattle for a running tour of downtown and the waterfront! Visit Seattle’s volunteer runners will lead various pace groups on a 3-mile loop using city sidewalks. The running tour will leave from the main entrance of the Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) lobby at 6:30 AM.

Please arrive by 6:15 AM to turn in the required liability waiver. Space is limited and registration is required. Please sign up for the Fun Run / Walk here.

A verbal overview of the suggested loop will be reviewed in the lobby, and Visit Seattle volunteers will be distinguished by brightly colored t-shirts. Start your day off right, please join us for this KubeCon NA18 wellness event!

The suggested route starts at the WSCC and takes guests through the Pike Place Market (past all the vendor stalls), along Bell Harbor Marina, through the SAM Sculpture Park, past the Space Needle, MoPOP and Gates Foundation. The route returns to the WSCC by following the Monorail, with a turn onto 6th Ave. past the Amazon Spheres, past the flagship Nordstrom and ends with guests returning to their respective hotels.

Diversity Scholarship Information

Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s diversity scholarship program provides support to those from traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized groups in the technology and/or open source communities (including, but not limited to: persons identifying as LGBTQ, women, persons of color, and/or persons with disabilities) who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend CNCF events for financial reasons.

A number of scholarships will be provided and recipients will receive up to $1500 to reimburse actual travel expenses. The $1500 can be used for the following: coach airfare, hotel (up to three nights), and/or ground transportation. Recipients will also receive complimentary conference registration and meals will be provided.

Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of need and impact. Selection will be made by an assembled group of reviewers who will assess each applicant’s request.

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation‘s flagship conference gathers adopters and technologists from leading open source and cloud native communities in Seattle, Washington from December 10-13, 2018.

I’d like to attend KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America taking place December 10-13, 2018, in Seattle. I’ve researched many conferences, and this is THE conference for gathering developers, IT professionals, and C-level leaders across the ecosystem to share learnings, highlight innovation and discuss the future of cloud native computing, including emerging trends in microservices architectures and container orchestration with technologies like Kubernetes, Prometheus, and many more.

Over 6,000 of the most talented individuals in the industry gather together for this event making it a great place to network with industry professional and learn from the top cloud native experts.

Here’s how I envision my attendance at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2018 strengthening our company:

• KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America offers 100+ sessions including technical sessions, deep-dives, case studies, and more. Attending these sessions will allow me to build my knowledge on best practices and new trends in the rapidly evolving cloud native ecosystem.

Code of Conduct

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation and its project communities are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for participants at all of our events. CNCF events are working conferences intended for professional networking and collaboration within the open source community. They exist to encourage the open exchange of ideas and expression and require an environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group. While at Linux Foundation events or related ancillary or social events, any participants, including members, speakers, attendees, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, booth staff and anyone else, should not engage in harassment in any form.

This Code of Conduct may be revised at any time by The Cloud Native Computing Foundation and the terms are non-negotiable. Your registration for or attendance at any CNCF event indicates your agreement to abide by this policy and its terms.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

All event participants are expected to behave in accordance with professional standards, with both this Code of Conduct as well as their respective employer’s policies governing appropriate workplace behavior, and applicable laws.

UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

Harassment will not be tolerated in any form, including, but not limited to, harassment based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion or any other status protected by laws in which the conference or program is being held. Harassment includes the use of abusive, offensive or degrading language, intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, sexual imagery and unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors. Any report of harassment at one of our events will be addressed immediately. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Anyone who witnesses or is subjected to unacceptable behavior should notify a conference organizer at once.

Exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material in their booths and must refrain from the use of sexualized clothing, uniforms, costumes, or otherwise creating a sexualized environment. Speakers should not use sexual language, images, or any language or images that would constitute harassment as defined above in their talks.

Individuals who participate (or plan to participate) in CNCF events should conduct themselves at all times in a manner that comports with both the letter and spirit of this policy prohibiting harassment and abusive behavior, whether before, during or after the event.  This includes statements made in social media postings, on-line publications, text messages, and all other forms of electronic communication.

CONSEQUENCES OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate depending on the circumstances, ranging from issuance of a warning to the offending individual to expulsion from the conference with no refund. The CNCF reserves the right to exclude any participant found to be engaging in harassing behavior from participating in any further Linux Foundation events, trainings or other activities.

If a participant (or individual wishing to participate in a CNCF event), through postings on social media or other on-line publications or another form of electronic communication, engages in conduct that violates this policy, whether before, during or after a CNCF event, CNCF may take appropriate corrective action, which could include imposing a temporary or permanent ban on an individual’s participation in future CNCF events.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU WITNESS OR ARE SUBJECT TO UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns relating to harassment, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified by t-shirts/staff badges onsite; and an organizer can be found at the event registration counter at any time. You are also encouraged to contact Vanessa Heric, Event Manager, vheric@linuxfoundation.org or Colleen Mickey, Event Director, cmickey@linuxfoundation.org.

INCIDENT RESPONSE

Our staff has had incident response training and responds to harassment reports and does so in accordance with the process recommended by the Ada Initiative. As referenced above, if a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, ranging from issuance of a warning to the offending individual to expulsion from the conference with no refund, depending on the circumstances. The Linux Foundation reserves the right to exclude any participant found to be engaging in harassing behavior from participating in any further Linux Foundation events, trainings or other activities.

Conference staff will also provide support to victims, including, but not limited to:

•      Providing an escort
•      Contacting hotel/venue security or local law enforcement
•      Briefing key event staff to for response/victim assistance
•      And otherwise assisting those experiencing harassment to ensure that they feel safe for the duration of the conference.
