Matthew Kuipers leads Intellectual Property for aerial-vehicle rideshare and various autonomous vehicle programs. His primary responsibilities are to clear IP risks for Uber’s businesses, protect Uber’s technology, and build industry partnerships. He manages and grows Uber’s patent portfolios in these technology areas. Matt also works on developing collaborations to accelerate innovation and commercialization through open source, standards, and joint development projects. He assists the litigation team on defending against third-party patent threats. Matt earned a JD from Cornell Law School and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
