About San Diego
What do avocados and WD-40 have in common?
San Diego! “America’s Finest City” is the largest producer of avocados in the United States (the Avocado Festival attracts over 70,000 people!). And, WD-40 was invented in 1953 by the Rocket Chemical Company located in San Diego. How many attempts do you think it took to perfect the formula? Yep, you guessed it: 40!
San Diego is also home to the Giant Dipper, the only roller coaster in the United States to be on the National Register of Historic Places. Another famous San Diego wooden structure is The Hotel Del Coronado. It is the country’s largest wooden edifice and is 133 years old. Talk about withstanding the tests of time! Luckily, since San Diego is famous for its amazing weather (it has only snowed 5 times in the century and a half that weather records have been kept), any day is probably a great day to visit these famous sites.
We would like to leave you with a quote from a famous San Diegan: “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to go to San Diego!
